We use SolarWinds Kiwi Syslog Server to accumulate and store all of the log entries from our network devices, firewalls, servers, and printers. SolarWinds Kiwi Syslog Server was very easy to set up and we have had no issues with it since it was installed. I recommend it to any system administrator that needs to store and report on log files entries across multiple devices. Excellent!

PRTG is a great package and very useful, but the jump from the free 100 sensor price model to the first tier of the paid model is WAY too expensive. SolarWinds Kiwi Syslog Server is very inexpensive and provides us with the results we needed for log monitoring.

Finally: Fast, Easy, *and* Cheap!
Kiwi Syslog is used only internally by our network engineering team. We consider it to be highly useful; as it's easy to set up and has minimal need for any additional configuration. We use it regularly as a replacement for the SolarWinds Orion Syslog that is part of their NPM package; as we find that the NPM syslog can't always keep up with logs.
- Fast! Logging is close to real-time.
- Simple set up
- Cheap. The whole product is usually less than $300 USD.
- Minimalistic; If you're looking for something with analysis features look elsewhere.
- Operating System support is Windows only.
- Some management features cannot be configured via web interface.
- Increased visibility into Network Issues

Our group already had a license for the Orion Syslog server that comes bundled with Orion NPM, but it didn't quite meet our requirements for performance. Elasticsearch and Graylog easily met our performance requirements, but not enough team members were able to manage the software and handle updates, or security patching. An added bonus was of course the pricing of the application.

Kiwi, The Easy to Use Syslog Server
We're currently using it to monitor our data center servers and network devices. It's helping us a great deal in identifying all sorts of issues across our infrastructure and server hardware. The easy to read and view log viewer as well as the easy to set to setup logging capabilities are outstanding.
- Collection of SNMP traps a reliable and stable collection server for these is crucial to troubleshooting and time to ROS. Kiwi excels at this.
- Easy to install set up and train users on.
- The free version is a good free tool and handy to use for personal labs and other smalle use cases.
- SNMP traps to user readable format is great, sometimes syslog and smnp messages can be hard to interpret and read with out a knowledge of how to do this.
- I think they could enhance their UI and update it a little.
- More filter options would be a great quality of life improvement
- Kiwi Syslog has dramatically improved our ability to correlate and identify problems across our infrastructure.
- This product has improved our turn around to ROS times.
- Syslog has allowed us the ability to collect and save multiple logs for troubleshooting issues with vendors. The ability to send log packages to vendors for troubleshooting is excellent.
I've not had any other interaction with other Syslog servers. The main reason for that is that Kiwi works outstandingly well at what it does. Simply put, I believe this product is a staple in the IT industry and will remain as such as long as they keep the tool current and improve it in the future.
